About UsThe Del Norte County Library District is composed of the Main Library, a branch library in Smith River, and the library literacy program, Del Norte Reads. The DNCL provides free services to all residents living within the boundaries of Del Norte County with services available to all others for an annual fee.
The library system holds over 54,000 materials – books, magazines, DVDs, Videocassettes, compact discs, audio books, and more. The current building was dedicated in 1983 and was remodeled in 2006.
In total, more than 72,000 items were checked out of the system during fiscal year 2005-2006! In addition, thousands of people entered the library to utilize print and electronic resources, access the Internet through the Library’s state-of-the-art Wi-Fi service, view a library exhibit, or attend one of the library’s many events.
