Who We Are
The Main Library is conveniently located with free parking in Price Mall at the intersection of Front and
K Streets opposite the Cultural Center:

The Del Norte County Library District is composed of the Main Library, a branch library in Smith River,
and the library literacy program, Del Norte Reads. The DNCL provides free services to all residents
living within the boundaries of Del Norte County with services available to all others for an annual fee.
The library system holds over 54,000 materials – books, magazines, DVDs, Videocassettes,
compact discs, audio books, and more. The current building was dedicated in 1983 and was
remodeled in 2006.
In total, more than 72,000 items were checked out of the system during fiscal year 2005-2006! In
addition, thousands of people entered the library to utilize print and electronic resources, access the
Internet through the Library’s state-of-the-art Wi-Fi service, view a library exhibit, or attend one of the
library’s many events.

development of literate and informed citizens through open and equal access to cultural, intellectual,
recreational, and informational resources.
Mission Statement
The existence of the Del Norte County Library District assures public ownership of print collections,
digital resources, and gathering space for the citizens of the library district. We are committed to
sustaining the value of public library services for the greater Del Norte County community through the
use of traditional and innovative technologies.
